La Chérie

The ask
Create a restaurant concept that translates a personal family story into a restaurant..

The answer
I developed La Chérie, a restaurant concept inspired by my grandma Jean, a small-town Southern caterer who dreamed of cooking like a French chef. The brand brings that aspiration to life through Southern-inspired French cuisine that balances refinement with comfort. Literally translating to “the darling,” La Chérie blends white tablecloth elegance with warm Southern hospitality, where every dish reflects a story of love, flavor, and legacy.

Hey there, I'm Rachel!

I’m a senior graphic designer  obsessed with typography, hand lettering, and the kind of creative problem-solving that keeps you thinking long after you’ve closed your laptop. I love making work that feels both thoughtful and beautiful, where good design actually has something to say.

I also teach at Miami Ad School, where I focus on storytelling through typography and branding. Helping young designers find their voice is easily one of the most fun parts of my job.

When I’m not designing, I’m probably reading. A lot. I hit 100 books in 2025, which says less about discipline and more about my inability to stop buying books. Curiosity tends to run my life, whether I’m building brands, teaching students, or staying up way too late finishing “just one more chapter.”
